Match Images Of Items To Words Using Websters Visual Dictionary

merriamwebster.jpgHere's a cool web site. Merriam-Webster has added an online visual dictionary, using illustrations that labels parts, objects, or the famous "what you call that" so you can easily match the image to a word and it's description.

Known as Visual Dictionary Online Webster provides up to 15 themes such as Plants and Gardening, House items, Science, Sports and Games, with over 60,000 images.

As shown in the example illustration of a tubular lock for a door handle…

…parts are label with links, when clicked, display their definitions

As helpful as this is, what's impressive, is that the hardware (screws, bolts) used to assemble the items, also include the same illustrations with part descriptions and definitions.

The Visual Dictionary is great for anybody, who needs to find names of items, and should be a big hit for kids to expand their knowledge.

Although only 15 themes are available, Webster will be adding more to it's already impressive list.
