It's bad enough when dealing with an mailbox full of spam wasting your time, but when it comes to spamming by phone, "Unknown Caller" or Name Unavailable" displayed on your Caller ID can become frustrating.
Fortunately you have three choices when it comes to unlisted numbers: don't answer the call, take your chances and answer the call, or don't answer and track down the number at whocalled.us
Who Called Us is a directory of unlisted numbers where you can look up the number, that shows up on caller ID from your land line or cell phone, and see how many other people report the same caller or spammer. You can also share comments, clues, and speculations about who or what is doing the dialing.
When you get a call from an unrecognized number, go to whocalled.us and enter the number to see who it was, where they are, and see other people comments that also received the call.
Even if the number is not recognized by Who Called Us, it's good to know that other people has inquired about the same number, and sooner or later the anonymous caller will be identified.
Another nice feature for tracking anonymous calls, is the capability to display the frequency of calls by state on a Google map. Tracking by location is based on people comments and where they are located. So it's important if your call has not been identified to leave a comment with your information.
So the next time a telemarketer or business calls and hides behind the "Unknown Number" display on Caller ID, look them up, track them down and call them in the middle of the night or all day long.
…and don't forget to tell everyone with a comment on Who Called Us, to give that pesky telemarketer a few hundred phone calls as a return "thank you for calling"!

This is nothing more than a reverse lookup. I doesn't allow you to find unidentified callers. It requires you to input some information, information that isn't available if the caller is anonymous.

This is a good web site. Although it may say" unavailable, or Anonymous" if other people KNOW who this is after the fact…They are the ones who come back here and input info for other users…..I use this web site ALL the time. Doesnt get much better than this. Totally free, customer filled database,. It will be as good and informative as the people who use it.

Does anyone know how to actually contact the admin of whocalled.us?? They allow some erroneous and slanderous posts against individuals that have nothing at all to do with telemarketing…just curious

Duncan,
It doesn't matter whether they are telemarketers or not. Some of us just don't want to be bothered business, survey, or soliciting phone calls, especially ones who block their caller ID.

I would just like to say that there is someone who posted libel about my Uncle on his website called whocalled.us. His name is Jamon Silva and he ignored attempts at asking him to remove the material. Its guys like this that promote spam and trash on the internet and get other people's good names put down. I wish that there was something to do ahead of time about it, but when you realize someone posted that stuff about you - its a done deal. If you go to this website to advertise a number that called you (the main site's theme) - beware of who you are supporting!
