One question I get from new users to Ubuntu is "how do I view my computer name?"
Since most of these people are new to Linux and Ubuntu, or switching from Windows, they want to know how to view their computer name from the desktop, like they can in Windows.
When it comes to networking, knowing your IP address can be essential with troubleshooting problems.
For any Window user who is new to Ubuntu and Linux, more than likely the first problem you will encounter is making sure your Ubuntu computer has been configured with an IP Address if you run into network problems.
