Add Spell Checking Functionality To Internet Explorer

iealllogo.jpgLike many web browsers, out of the box, Internet Explorer lacks a built-in spell checker. With out it, composing messages, filling out forms or just commenting on blogs and forums can make you look foolish if you are not careful with spelling.

To avoid being embarrassed, a free third party extension called ieSpell, seamlessly integrates in to IE, letting you instantly spell-check anything you type into a Web page.

Created by Red Egg Software, download ieSpell and install by clicking on ieSpellSetup251106.exe. If IE is open during installation, close and re-open for the install to take effect.

Once installed, spell checking can be accessed either from Internet Explorer menu by selecting Tools \ ieSpell, the right click menu or the toolbar (icon may need to be manually added to toolbar).

NOTE: If you are using MSN, AOL or other IE based browsers only right click menu is available.

To use, after filling out a form, composing an email, etc, just access ieSpell in one of the three ways mentioned above. For example, in the screen shot below, I just right clicked and selected Check Spelling from the context menu.

You can also look up spelling errors on Merriam Webster and Wikipedia sites by right clicking, but you can not automatically correct the spelling.

ieSpell can also be customized by clicking on the Options… button (or Tools \ ieSpell Options) and changing preferences (General tab), change/add new Language & Dictionaries or change where to lookup word definitions (Other tab).

ieSpell is a complete standalone spell checker and integrates flawlessly in Internet Explorer 5 and higher versions running on Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista.

This is a must have extension that will correct all your speling (oops) spelling errors!
