U have all tried in ur comments but I would like to introduce to u all that there are more secured routers that authomatically change passphrase from time to time after putting the normal one in connecting a new system to the network which make it difficult for hacker to get it exact passphrass.

Thanks.

@Drak: Were did your 3 billion figure come from?
40 Characters gives way way more than 3 billion possible passwords.
Good job too, a computer could try 3 billion quite quickly.

I think the article is a good summary and the criticism of it is not well justified. Some of the measures can indeed be circumvented by the determined, but all little bits help. The thing that could improve the article is a better indication of the pros, cons and effectiveness of the different measures, and a top three of things must do.

I read this and I have to do some laughing, Its easy to find a hidden SSID and IP Address, its a little more but not that complicated to mimic an ip address and/or MAC address, you best protection would run WPA2 if you can and use a random generated 40 character password that will be almost impossible to crack, that would give over 3 billion possible combination to hack through and right now even with the fastest computers, it would years before it crack

A lot of this advice is old provisional measures and actually counter-productive. Some of above advice is crucial and yet is downplayed.

There are three important things to do:

1) secure your router by changing SSID and password. Making it invisible causes you more trouble than a hacker.
2)Use strong wireless encryption:- WPA or WPA2 with 20+ char password
3) change the password often enough to be sure it's not getting leaked out or shared.

MAC filtering will also cause you more trouble than a hacker. They can get right past it.
